Growing up Jewish, Jenny and I have always known Israel as the “land of our fathers.” Therefore, we are excited to join Pastor Greg and Cathe Laurie on what is sure to be a fun and unforgettable experience.
With them, and many other pilgrims, we are going on a tour of Israel and a Mediterranean cruise, to walk in the “Land of Jesus” and follow in the “Steps of Paul.” How wonderful it will be to help lead worship in the place where the Psalms were composed; how inspiring to share the Word of God where the prophetic scriptures were written; and what a thrill to visit the sights in which the Gentile world first heard the Good News of a Jewish Messiah named Yeshua! One day, all the world will go up to Jerusalem to give Jesus glory upon His return. Why not get a head start and go up with all of us now!

Just three miles off the coast of southern Italy’s mainland is the port town of Messina on the island of Sicily. This bustling town has a history with roots in Greek mythology, but the majority of the city has been rebuilt or refurbished within the last 100 years—and you’ll find the town has an interesting blend of new architecture and old styles.
Day at Sea (May 15)
Ephesus (Kusadasi), Turkey (May 16, 7:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.)
A city created by the Ionians in the 11th century B.C. and later expanded by the Romans. Now considered one of the grandest reconstructed sites in the ancient world, the region also hosted the likes of Cleopatra, Mark Antony, the Virgin Mary and John the Apostle.

Now considered one of the grandest reconstructed sites from the ancient world, Ephesus is one of the best-preserved archeological sites in the world. On our private tour, we'll first visit the Great Theater, which dates back to the Hellenistic period and is where Paul preached to the Ephesians. We'll visit a brand new excavation of covered terrace homes that reveals the beautiful mosaics and frescoes of the wealthy Romans. Afterward, we'll continue along the Marble Road, a sacred walkway linking the theater and the Celsus Library with Hadrian's Temple. This impressive Corinthian-style temple has beautiful reliefs on the porch, and the Ephesians believed that the Medusa head found there would protect the city from its enemies. These stone walls and colonnaded facades display the finest technology, engineering, art, and culture of the Roman Empire during the time when the early Christian church was just beginning to spread the gospel.

Piraeus is the main port of Athens and within walking distance of majestic views of the Saronic Gulf. The port of Piraeus is your gateway to the wonders of Athens, including the Acropolis, Constitution Square, Hadrian’s Arch, the Olympic Stadium and more.

Drive through the city of Athens, home to over half the Greek population, on your way to the Parthenon temple, dedicated to the city's patron goddess Athena. Along the winding path to the Acropolis you'll pass the Temple of the Wingless Victory and Mars Hill, where Paul preached to the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers. Next you'll travel to the ancient city of Corinth to view the 6th century BC Greek excavations, 44 BC Roman city and eclectic other ruins. The area of Corinth flourished under a colony of soldiers sent by Julius Caesar in the 1st Century, housing at one time a Christian basilica, the start lines of a Greek racetrack, a sacred spring and an elaborate Roman fountain—all still viewable. On your travels to and from Corinth you'll cross the famous 4-mile Corinth Canal, connecting the Ionian and Aegean Seas, which was conceived in ancient Roman times.

Chania is the second largest city of Crete, and one of the most beautiful. It lies along the north coast of the island at the east end of the Gulf of Chania. Chania is the site of the ancient Minoan settlement the Greeks called Cydonia (Kydonia), which was mentioned in Virgil’s Aeneid—and has been continuously inhabited for the last 5000 years.
